Dec, you came into the squad this summer just gone. How do you feel you've settled into the club? What was the biggest influence in you joining?
I feel as though I’ve settled in really well at Squires Gate since the start of the season. I came in on loan from Chorley fc at the later stages of last season before coronavirus brought the season to a stop, and now to have come back again to sign a dual registration this season, I feel as though I never left.

Luke wanted me to come down to play a game in preseason and as soon as I got there the lads made me feel welcome straight away. I get along with not just all the lads really well but all the staff at Squires Gate and I think this was the biggest influence on what made me sign this season.

You mention you played for Chorley, who obviously play at a higher level than us. But what is the difference in terms of matchday preparation, training, etc?
In my opinion, it doesn’t matter what team or what level you are playing at your match day preparation should always be the same. For me I like to get a good meal the night before most of the time a pasta meal. Then if we was going off a game with kick off being 3 o’clock I would wake up around 10 o’clock and get some decent breakfast. I like to go for scrambled egg and beans on toast. I also try to make sure i am hydrated and so I try to drink water all the way up until kick off. After my breakfast i tend to sit down and relax, normally by watching TV. Soccer AM if I have time. I like to get to the ground early and so I don't have much time for anything else as I need to set off. Living in Horwich, games normally take me a while to get to.

In terms of the difference in training at Chorley, the tempo is higher but I guess this can be said for any team as you move up throughout the leagues. Other than that there's nothing else that is really a big difference. Luke and Andy here at Gate, definitely try their best to get us ready for the games ahead of us.

How do you get yourself pumped up for games? What is the first song on your playlist? Who has the worst music taste in the dressing room? When speaking to Jacob, he said you were a fan of the France WC song. Do you have anything to say to that?
I find the best way to get myself pumped up for games is definitely listening to house music in the car on the way to the game. I probably couldn’t pick one song That would definitely get me pumped up but any sort of house music should do the trick. Doddy loves his French music and half of the stuff he plays, I don’t even understand. Doddy plays the French world cup song and that's the only one I know. Jacob was right. I am a very big fan of that song.

Who's been the toughest player, and team you've played against?
During my time at Preston, Blackpool and Oldham, I have played against many Premier League sides. Manchester United and Manchester City are definitely the two toughest teams I have come across. Playing against lads with top technical ability. I have come across the likes of Mason Greenwood and Angel Gomes to name but a few but Angel Gomes was definitely the stand out player to come up against.

What is the most used app on your phone?
I would have to say Snapchat as i have loads of different group chats with my mates

What's your song choice on karaoke? Do players have initiations when they join Gate? What has been the best and worst you've seen at any of your clubs?
It looks like I’m quite similar to Deano on this one. I also love a bit of Bublé especially this time of year now that it is closer to Christmas. As soon as it turns the 1st of December the Bublé Christmas CD comes out.  When a new player joins we definitely try and get an initiation sorted as it’s a great bit of banter and bonding for the lads. I’ve not had chance to see many this season so far but Jamie Ramwell could of done with a microphone when we travelled to Newcastle. His version of The A team by Ed Sheeran was very quiet. It was still a great laugh for all us lads.

Which 3 Football League players would you bring to the club on a free, and why?
I would bring in Troy Deeney as he looks like a great leader, Todd Cantwell because his technical ability is unbelievable and David Raya a solid goalkeeper.

Which player would you say you are most similar to?
I found it quite hard to pick one player to compare myself to and so I decided to ask a couple of my mates and what their thoughts were. The most common answer I got was a mixture between Pogba and Yaya Touré. Qualities of long-range passing and long-range shooting.

Favourite sport aside from football? Do you enjoy watching or playing any other sports?
I definitely consider myself as a sporty person, growing up through primary school and high school I always got involved in various different sporting activities that took place. I would always get involved in any sport and my competitive nature would kick in and want to win. I don’t really watch many other sports over then football. I can’t think of anything worse than sitting down and watching cricket. If there was no football on TV, I would watch American football or rugby if it on, Or even a bit of women’s beach volleyball can keep me entertained for a while.

What restaurant can you usually be found in? Or are you more of a takeaway sort of guy?
If I had the money and it was possible I would definitely eat out at a restaurant every night I’m a bit of a snob for eating out at posh places. If I was to recommend somewhere for people to go it would definitely be “Bistecca” in Chorley, this restaurant definitely does the best steak I have ever tasted. You can usually find me in here at least once every 1 or 2 weeks.

What was your first ever football match, as a fan and as a player?
From what I can remember my first football match as a fan was at Old Trafford watching Manchester United I can’t be sure on who we played but I remember chanting Ronaldo‘s name. My first game as a player was when i was five or six playing for Horwich R.M.I for the year above.

If you were to go on The Chase with 3 Gate players, who would you take? In other words, who are the most intelligent players? Who would you least like to take?
First on my list is definitely Josh Westwood, He looks like he would be very knowledgeable. I would also pick Luke Holden, he strikes me to be someone with loads of random facts. And finally I think I would choose Cam Gourley, I definitely can see him as being academically sound. I don't see my self taking Josh pollard, not because I don't think he's clever, just down to the fact that I don't think he would be able to stay awake for the full the show.

Any matchday superstitions? What's the worst you've seen?
I don’t really have any match day superstitions. I’m not a very superstitious person. I tend to normally do i hop, skip and a short sprint as i walk out onto the pitch but that's pretty much it. I haven't really noticed anybody else’s. I just try to relax and get myself in the zone.

It's been a rough start for Gate, but with news that we will be back playing shortly. What do you think the main aim will be for the remainder of the season?
Our main aim will definitely remain the same, we’ve said from the start that we want to be up there competing at the top and that shouldn’t change for any of us. When we get back we need to hit the ground running and start getting some strong points. We definitely have the quality in the team to get us out of this rough start. I just can’t wait to get back playing.
