Back on the road again for the start of the season...

Pre-Match Build Up
The football’s back for Gate and Andy Clarkson as the gaffer brings his new look side to Runcorn at the weekend.

Several new faces are expected to feature in the game as Gate look to start the season with three points. After two mid week training sessions, Manager Andy Clarkson feels his team are ready to get started “We decided not to play another fixture in the lead up to this game. We wanted to let the lads rest and go through some more positional and tactical work ahead of the weekend."

The Away Team
Runcorn Town come into this game on the back of a successful pre season campaign. Wins against Holywell Town and Liversedge have seen Paul McManus’ side prepare well for the new season.

Town have been very vocal in announcing a large amount of last seasons squad have re-signed alongside some familiar faces. Striker Craig Cairns has rejoined the club after winning promotion with City of Liverpool last season, the same goes for Joe Holt who has also rejoined the club.

Last Time We Met
Gate and Runcorn last met back in March at the end of last season where Gate picked up a 2-0 win at The Brian Addison Stadium.

It was a third straight win for Andy Clarkson’s men who came into the game without a game in two weeks due to postponements. Previous wins against Barnoldswick Town and Litherland Remyca saw the confidence high coming into this one.

Gate started the game well and looked lively in attacking areas. Riccardo Egidi cut the ball back to James Boyd in the opening exchanges for Gate’s first chance but his shit was over the bar.

Andy Clarkson’s men could smell blood and after being denied several times, finally made the break through. Inform striker Riccardo Egidi latching onto the end of Seydou Bamba’s header down from a corner to open the scoring.

Joe Booth came close for Gate at the start of the second half before doubling Gate’s lead.
After a foul on the edge of the box, he lined up and executed a superb ferric right into the top corner.
