The future is a bright one at The Brian Addison Stadium as an influx of youngsters are looking to cement there place in Gate’s first team.

Several Under 18’s have been taking part in pre season with Gate this season with most if not all looking to be involved in this coming season.

On Tuesday night Gate ended the game with a 15 year old, two 16 year olds and a couple of 17 year olds in the team, something that will become more regular as the season starts.

Evidence of a pathway came on Tuesday night when 15 year old Josh Dolby-Armstrong came off the bench to score for Gate against Fleetwood.

He showed great determination to keep closing down the keeper whose clearance hit of the youngster and into the goal.

A proud man on Tuesday night was Junior Chairman Nick Grindley. Nick who is also Assistant Manager to Josh in Gate’s Under 16’s side. On Josh’s emergence Nick said: “I’m delighted that Josh has gone into the first team and made an impact like that. It was never expected but I’m not surprised as he always works extremely hard for his team. I would like to thank Andy for giving our boys this opportunity. Hopefully it will give him a nice headache in the next couple of years."
