Squires Gate FC are thrilled to confirm that goalkeeper Nathan Pennington has joined the club on a permanent basis, signing a contract at the club for the upcoming 2023/24 season.
Pennington, who joined Gate last summer on a dual-registration from Macclesfield FC, impressed massively between the sticks at The Brian Addison Stadium last season, winning the Player’s Player of the Season Award and impressing all that watched him throughout the campaign.
His penalty shooutout performances in the FA Vase against West Allotment Celtic and Emley were particular highlights, and his permanent signing is a huge boost to the club so soon ahead of next season.
On joining Gate permanently, Penni said: “I’m really glad to stay at Gate for another season.
“Luke Evans was a massive influence in making me stay for another year.
“The club is clearly going in the right direction to push on for the season ahead.”
Manager Luke Evans added: “We are over the moon to get Nathan signed on for another season.
“He was on a dual-registration from Macclesfield last season, and we really feel we are showing the ambition of the football club by making this a priority signing for us.
“Nathan has obviously had interest from other clubs, but has chosen to stay with us which goes a long way to show his character but also that we must be doing something right on and off the pitch.
“Many thanks to Macclesfield FC for allowing us to offer Nathan a contract, and we look forward to seeing both Nathan and the team grow together.”
