Young Jamie Ramwell is well aware of the competition for places this season

At 19 years of age, Jamie Ramwell has put in some hard working performances for the blues already during pre season and continues to cause Evans a selection headache. The forward added to his tally on Tuesday night, sliding home Gate's 3rd in a 4-3 victory over AFC Fylde.

"As much as it felt good getting a goal for my own tally (on Tuesday), it is great for the team too. Deano and Pondy are class players, so the competition for places is always high and I'm ready to fight for my place in the team. Whether starting, or coming on as a sub, I will always give 100% and make sure that the gaffer knows what I can do."

After joining the club this summer, Ramwell explains how he has settled into the club, and what it feels like playing under Evans' style of play.

"I feel great when I play for the club; we’re all a team and in everything together, we’ve all got each other’s backs on and off the pitch and that shows from the results we have been getting. The team spirit is high, and we are all ready for the season ahead. I think the clubs ambitions going forward are great, we don't want to just stand still and watch everyone else push for promotion. We want to get ourselves at the very top, and we have the management team and squad capable of doing just that."

With the FA vase game around the corner, Ramwell reflects on the current form and morale of the squad. After being knocked out of the FA Cup last weekend, Ramwell believes that the team are up for the battle and will not lose focus.

"The FA vase game is one we are all up for and looking forward to. After being knocked out of the FA Cup; looking back at the chances we had, the game could have gone either way but we have taken the positives from that game and will need to get it right in another competitive fixture this weekend. As a club, we want to go as far as we can, and just like everyone else we want to win the trophy but you can only focus on each game and we are not getting ahead of ourselves."

Saturday's game against Birtley Town is behind closed doors so please do not travel as you will be refused entry. We will return to action when we face Prestwich Heys on the 26th September at 3pm.
