Retained | Dean Ing

Deano back for another season!

Squires Gate FC are delighted to confirm that striker Dean Ing has been retained for the 2025/26 season.

The popular striker, now in his third spell at the club, rejoined Gate on a permanent basis in December 2023 and has netted some big goals since his return, including a hat trick against eventual Premier Division champions Bury on the opening day of last season.

Despite the bright start to Gate’s season, a tough second half of the season saw Evans’ men fall to relegation, ending their stay as the longest serving NWCFL Premier Division club.

Reflecting on the campaign, Ing said: “Obviously we are all massively disappointed with how last season turned out for us.

But looking into the upcoming season, we have to be optimistic towards a really successful and more consistent Squires Gate.

“The people surrounding the club deserved more last year from us as players and I feel this year, we will have the opportunities to right a few wrongs and make the 25/26 season a success.”

Ing will be amongst the players set to return for pre-season training in just a few weeks, ahead of a huge season for the club. He said: “I don’t believe that any player looks forward to the early stages of pre season but I’m excited to get amongst the lads again and get started.

“We’ve managed to keep a good group of lads together that know the ins and outs of how the club works and I think that’s massive to build on during pre season leading up to the beginning of the season.”

“Personally, after a tough spell last season sustaining an injury that kept me out for quite some time, I’m hopeful for a season where I’m fully fit but I’m also looking to smash my goals for the season record and help get us back to where we belong.”
