Youth team manager Josh Strachan is delighted with the link up between the youth team and first team so far.

Josh Strachan, our youth team manager has been delighted with the integration of his players into the first team. In recent weeks, Evans has selected numerous youth players to get some experience in the first team and Josh is proud to see his group of players hold their own when pulling on a Gate shirt.

"Seeing the lads make appearances for the first team at this early stage is brilliant. There is a massive feel good factor around the club and it’s becoming a big family setup between the youth and first team which not many other clubs have, and I'm proud that we are a part of it. The boys know that they have a chance of playing some first team football if they put in a good shift and it really helps the motivation. Everyone wants to play at the highest level so for the link between the first team and the youth team to be so strong is nothing but positive."

The youth team have begun their new campaign, and despite only picking up one point from the first two opening games, there are always positives to take.

"We’re getting challenging games every week with the league we’ve moved into but that’s what is going to help us learn and improve. Our first game against Garstang was difficult, we created chances but just couldn't finish them which is always frustrating. In the game on Sunday we put in a great shift, so to concede a last minute equaliser was disappointing but we’ll always remain positive about what we’re doing and try and do things in the right way and look to progress and improve every week."

Karl Pacheco, Matty Garrett, and Tom Smith have all made appearances in the recent weeks.

“The boys did really well in their few appearances not being afraid to get stuck in, despite only being 16, as well as having the calmness to get on the ball and help the team play. For our boys to get the chance to play and be alongside quality players is great and to see Luke at every one of our games watching and giving the boys advice aswell has been fantastic so just want to say a massive thank you to him and his coaching staff aswell as the committee for all the help they have given us so far and hopefully we can keep progressing all the time”.

Our youth team play Garstang on Sunday the Brian Addison stadium at 11am. All of their games are played Sunday mornings at 11am and all of their fixtures are in the website so if you want to come down and support them it’s always free entry and would be great to see people down there supporting this clubs future.
