Why Bury?
They picked me really. There was no history of football in my family so I'm a first generation fan. It was a free ticket via school back in 1983 that saw me go to my first game. We won 3-2 against Chester and I was hooked straight away. I just felt accepted from the off and instantly felt at home.

Did you attend the Squires Gate match in December? Any advice to the travelling fans?
Sadly I couldn't get a ticket for that match and this time I'm away on holiday so will miss it again! I'll get there one day I promise, hopefully next season in the league.

As for advice I'm sure the Bury fans lucky enough to go will receive a warm welcome, as they did in December and will be as loud and proud as ever.

What are your expectations for this coming season, after Bury were top of Division One before the curtailment!?
Last season was very frustrating especially after everything we had been through. We'd had 12 months without football and all the grief and anguish that went with that. Then we got it back, with all the joy that went with that, only for it to be snatched away from us again.

When we did get to play I was impressed with the spirit we showed and we will need a lot more of the same this season. We are a big name at this level and everyone wants to beat us. If we show the same spirit as last season I have no doubt the skill in the squad will shine through. Hopefully that will be enough to see us promoted but we can't take anything for granted in what is sure to be a competitive league again this season. I'll just get be happy to get a season completed! A bit of a run in the Vase would be nice too, though in recent years Bury and FA competitions haven't been the best of friends.

Which players do you think will be the biggest threat for Gate on Saturday?
It's hard to say who will be playing on Saturday given the number of trialists we have at the moment and the size of our squad but based on recent friendlies wide men Lewis Gilboy and Aiden Chippendale have looked very good. Also the prolific Tom Greaves can't be overlooked. He hasn't scored in our last two outings so I'm sure he'll be hungry to get back on the scoresheet on Saturday.

The fixtures are due out soon. What games will be you looking out for first?
The fixture we had all been looking forward to was Isle of Man away but with them moving into Division One South that one has gone, but personally was always looking forward to the games against Bacup Borough. They are the closest rival geographically (I think) now Prestwich have been elevated and have been less than complimentary about us so will add a bit of spice to events from our end!

Prediction for the game?
As for Saturday I think it will be a closer game than in December and will sit on the fence and say it will be a 2-2 draw.
