Mid-Term Report

Things have been really busy at our Juniors section so far this summer despite the freezing start, soggy May and extremes of June. In fact so busy that we wanted to shout about it a little and let everyone in the club know what is happening.

Our numbers have increased once again with over 55 junior members fully signed up and a further intake of 25 through the ECB Allstars programme. This is the 5th year in a row of gradual increases in membership and shows the long term development of our section.
Training for returning members started in mid-April a couple of weeks early to make up for the lack of indoor winter practice this year, it certainly took a while to feel like a Summer sport. New members training started at the end of April with the Allstars kicking off in early May.

On the pitch we have fielded 4 teams this season all of whom have been in action.
Our Under 14s have played 4 league games. Two tight losses were followed by a thrilling win against Weybridge Vandals, before our highest score of the season at Maori Oxshott last weekend proved not enough to overcome a very strong side.
Our Under 12 midweek team is second in their league level on points with the leaders. 3 wins and 1 loss, only an unfortunate concession defeat for an away game at Ashstead depriving them of top spot.
The Under 11s Sunday team are undefeated and head their league with 4 wins and 1 abandoned game draw which they were well set to win. A likely title decider with Royal Ascot was due to be held this Sunday but has been deferred due to the heavy rain, so we expect a real end of season thriller in a few weeks. Our Under 11s also have 4 kids representing Spelthorne Borough in the regional team competitions.
Finally our Under 10s Softball team have been making their debut into organised cricket with two good games against strong Under 11s opponents. So far no wins but some really good performances and improvement.

Thanks to all our coaches, match managers and organisers for your contributions so far, lets continue to build on this great start and make this the best season yet.
See you on Friday evenings at the club!
