Take a look at the new products we have behind the bar in time for the winter matches at Boggymead

Yes... we have new stock behind the bar and we're proud to say that we have a broader range of whiskies that you can choose from. Our resident whiskey connoisseur, Fraser, has extensively tested these (at length) and brought together some appetising taster notes for you to have a read through and decide on your next tipple!

Santory Hibiki Harmony - Japanese Blended Whisky - 43%

Hibiki Japanese Harmony is a blend of Japanese malt and grain whiskies from the Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita distilleries. Presented in the brand's trademark 24-faceted bottle representing the Japanese seasons, this is light, approachable and moreish with enticing notes of orange peel and white chocolate.

NOSE - Rose, lychee, hint of rosemary, mature woodiness, sandalwood.
PALATE - Honey-like sweetness, candied orange peel, white chocolate.
FINISH - Subtle, tender long finish, with hint of Mizunara (Japanese oak).

Cotswolds Single Malt - English - 46%

Cotswolds Single Malt Whisky is the first whisky ever distilled in the Cotswolds. It's made from 100% locally grown, floor-malted barley and mature the whisky in first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels and reconditioned red wine casks. Rich, fruity and sippable with notes of honey, Seville orange marmalade and dark red fruits.

NOSE - Notes of honey and butterscotch layered with light fruits (peaches & apricots), a hint of marzipan.
PALATE - Strong notes of tannin-rich malt, oils and dark sugar with lots of spice, caramelised Seville orange marmalade.
FINISH - Long and resinous, with dark red fruits and a hint of treacle.

Laphroaig 10 year old - Scotland - Islay Single Malt - 40%

Laphroaig, founded in 1815 by brothers Donald and Alexander Johnston, has an extremely rich history; neighbourly disputes with Lagavulin and many ownership changes to name a couple. The 10 Year Old Single Malt is Laphroaig's signature malt that is full sparkling gold in colour and has that signature rich smoke and seaweed character with a hint of sweetness. Surprisingly the palate is rich with subtle sweet hints and complex layers ofs salt and peatines that evolve on the palate and continue to the long and dry finish.

NOSE - This opens on big, smoky muscular peat notes. There are spices, and liquorice, as well as a big dose of salt. This whisky has become slightly sweeter in recent years, and it beautifully on the nose.
PALATE - Seaweed-led, with a hint of vanilla ice cream. The oak is big, and muscles its way into the fore as you hold this whisky over your tongue. An upsurge of spices develop – cardamom/black pepper/chilli.
FINISH - Big and drying, as the savoury, tarry notes build up with an iodine complexity.

Buffalo Trace - USA - Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky - 40%

Buffalo Trace has been making legendary bourbon whiskey for over 220 years through prohibition and two world wars. The Buffalo Trace distillery has been awarded 'Distillery of the Year' 7 times and Buffalo Trace has been award over 22 national and international awards and is regularly featured on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. The whiskey shows wonderful aromas of vanilla, mint and molasses which follows through on the palate with notes of brown sugar and spice. A long and dry finish rounds off what is a truly great whiskey.

NOSE - Spicy and sweet with caramel, creamy toffee eclairs, hints of cinnamon, rum spice and cereal sweetness.
PALATE - Brown sugar, toffee apple, sweet oak, custard, oily espresso beans, a touch of chocolate-covered raisins and toasty wood.
FINISH - Good length with sweet spices, cinnamon gum and toffee.

Diplomatico Montuano - Venezuela - Rum - 40%

Mantuano is the replacement for Diplomatico's Reserva rum. 'Mantuano', meaning 'nobleman', reflects Don Juancho's status and his passion for travel and the discovery of new spirits, mainly rums. Don Juancho is present on each of Diplomatico's rums.Aged for up to eight years, Mantuano is a blend of Column, Batch Kettle and Pot Still rums and made from molasses and sugar cane honeys. It is fantastic when mixed in cocktails, or sipped neat.

NOSE - Thick, heavy and sweet – like wading through molasses. With some time, black treacle, cherries and Millionaire’s Shortbread come through, wrapped in sweet liquorice and milk chocolate.
PALATE - Spicier than expected from the nose, but rich and oily in texture. Cinnamon and nutmeg lead into sharper notes of polished oak before caramel sauce, soft toffees and hints of balancing bitter barrel char.
FINISH - Soft and sweet, with herbal hints slowly fading to leave spicy oak.

Glenfiddich 12 year old - Scotland - Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky - 40%

This lovely expression is from Glenfiddich Distillery based up in Speyside. This 12 year old uses the same water source that they used when the distillery first started making whisky back in 1887. Matured in a mixture of Oloroso & Bourbon casks made from American & European Oak - which results in a medley of nuanced soft flavours hiding inside this cracking whisky. Fun Fact, Glenfiddich translates as Valley of the Deer in Scots Gaelic.

NOSE - Distinctively fresh and fruity with a hint of pear. Beautifully crafted and delicately balanced.
PALATE - Characteristic sweet, fruity notes. Develops into butterscotch, cream, malt and subtle oak flavours.
FINISH - A long smooth and mellow finish.
