Doug Plunkett of Moveology talks to Fraser Morris in our "Spotlight" feature.

Sponsors Spotlight

In this week's edition, we catch up with Doug Plunkett, Senior Therapist, Movement and Rehabilitation Specialist at Moveology to find out more about the work that they do and the challenges of the last year:

When was the company founded?
Moveology was founded in 2008.

What do you do?
At Moveology we believe that we need to go beyond the conventional way of looking at the body. So instead of looking at areas of the body in isolation, we look at the whole sequence of connections in a bodies movement. As well as using traditional techniques such as Osteopathy, Soft Tissue Therapy, Physiotherapy and Medical Acupuncture, we also draw on our training in Gait Analysis and Anatomy in Motion.
We apply a continuous assessment to our patient's progress throughout their time with us, so that we can gain the best results.
We like to think of it as a scientific approach to achieving pain free movement.
We believe that static treatment is a thing of the past and that by using a more dynamic mix of traditional and innovative approaches we can open up patient’s full range of movement and get more complete results.

Number of employees ?
At the moment we have a total of 5 therapists in the team

What challenges have you experienced over the last year?
Our main challenge over the past year has been getting the message out that we are still open for business. There were other challenges that we, like many other businesses, have had to overcome. Things such as implementing a safe Covid free environment for patients. This meant getting used to using full PPE and sanitising all surfaces and areas between patients. Not to mention the extra paperwork such as screening forms etc that went along with it.

Why did you get involved with St Albans Rugby Club?
Moveology got involved with St Albans Rugby to initially provide the club's pitch-side physio for home games. Then after a great couple of years in we wanted to get more involved with the club as we enjoyed being part of the set up here. So we decided that we to support the club as a sponsor.
