Horrible conditions as the 2nd XV headed down to Hendon on Saturday.
Right from the off the Blue and Gold were all over Hendon and stormed the try line but it wasn’t to be, the ref’s call (from somewhere near the halfway line) saying the ball was held up and the try disallowed. Moments later a textbook 50:22 from Fly Half Joe Nelson also not given suggesting maybe it was going to be one of those days. Two first-half tries from Hendon meant they headed in ahead at halftime.
The weather didn’t improve for the 2nd half but St Albans fought back with a vengeance and managed to secure a hard-earned pick and drive try out wide through the forwards. A scrappy affair that saw a yellow card for each team ended with Hendon winning 14-5.
