It was a cold damp day as the 3rd team took to the field to face Hackney, 13 men lined up against 15 with hope in their heart.
The game started as it would go on with Hackney charging through the gaps with scores within minutes of the start, St Albans battle on now up to 14 men with the help of a Hackney player, they put in tackle after tackle showing determination to keep the score down.
The scrum although not as organised as usual showed real power putting dents into the Hackney pack.
Half time came thankfully soon and St Albans rallied on to produce a better second half where we found our self camped in Hackneys 22with a penalty given the pack was called up on the 5 yard line twice Hackney scrum failed and the scrum was called again finally the ball was lost in a ruck and was kicked down field a try gone begging.
Soon the Saints were down to 12 players with both Ryan Roughan and Ryan Wallis being carried off after which the gaps proved to big to seal and Hackney started to run in trys.
The game finally came to a thankful end after Hackney scored for the last time under the post although the kick was missed.
Players of the match goes to Ryan Wallis for never giving up and to our on loan player Oggi.
