STA3 score 19 points

Watford 2s @56 - STA3 19

The Threes travelled to Watford RFC. The team found themselves with two reserves and many, many Irish men. Matt Clifford and Liam Mayo Monroe were asked to prop and that's why they are BOTH Man of the Match before you've even read this match report. "Yeah, I'll do it." without hesitation shows Great team spirit and team responsibility. The contested scrums meant that STA3 were able to take the game to the opposition in a way we had not been able to this whole seaon. Liam, Will Vennard and Stuart Ruler all took the ball up and new boys, Alex Sims and Chris Hilton new no fear in attack. Watford were a very composed side, but gentlemen none the less. They opened the scoring and would score many more from well worked moves. Well done them. A series of rumbles freed up Huw Thomas who beat several tackles and crashed over the line. Russell Rusty Tate was keen to get on the scoresheet and with a great line break got his score. The final effort went to Owen Roberts who also kicked the conversions. The lads who turned up from the gaelic football team were class. Normally you don't get new players who can kick half the length of the pitch accurately. Gary Cooney, James Thompson, Shane Gills and Aiden Slane could all do this and it was no end of relief that the ball was in good hands (and feet!) And the Bowns played well too!

Pete Elvy has stepped down as 3rd Team captain due to injury. Can I thank him for his efforts whilst playing at the club. His presence will be sorely missed in the scrum.

We've got OMT at home next Saturday. I have asked the club forwards coach, Mr Tim Saunders, if we can do scrummaging on Tuesday. He said YES. I'm going to ask for you to attend this as we started to compete effectively in the second half at the scrum.

I've got us an STA3 table at the Race Night on the 12th November. I'll need 7 more heads so we can team bond. Tell me you are coming. Women folk too!
