The 2020-21 season will go down in history as possibly the shortest in history.

Due to the Covid pandemic the season started a month later than normal and saw social distancing put in place at the Zeeco stadium.

The pre-season started with Peterborough United visiting but instead of hundreds of Posh and Daniels supporters watching their teams in action, the stands were empty. The game finished with a 1-0 win for Peterborough.

Further friendlies against Melton, Sleaford & Harrowby followed before supporters were allowed to return against Newark. We finished pre-season with games at Corby and at home to Peterborough Sports.

Competitive action began in the FA cup with a 4-0 win over Diss Town before starting at home to Glossop in the league. The FA cup then returned against AFC Sudbury with Stamford again scoring four. September finished with a 2-2 draw at Ilkeston.

October started with a trip to Royston in the FA Cup which saw Stamford bow out on penalties. In the league victories over Lincoln and Stocksbridge saw 10 goals scored and only 1 conceded. A draw away at Carlton followed before Stamford began their FA trophy campaign.

We edged out Lincoln United before we travelled to the West Midlands and beat step 3 side Stourbridge.

This was to be the last game for 6 weeks before we played Kidsgrove away in front of home fans only. We then took on National league north side Kidderminster Harriers at an empty Zeeco stadium and won 1-0 thanks to a Rob Morgan goal.

Another enforced break saw us have to wait another 5 weeks before taking on another step 2 side Hereford. This was ultimately the Daniels last competitive game of the season and some comfort that we were eliminated from the competition from one of the eventual finalists.

Once restrictions allowed, the players returned to action in April, playing 4 friendlies behind closed doors against Anstey Nomads, Frickley, Shepshed & Harrowby.

With the planned changes to the non league structure the 2021-22 season will see the Daniels come up against sides we have not played in a while.
