Stamford were the much brighter side in the first half, with Yaxley failing to test Stamford’s keeper Danny Haystead. The first chance of the game came to Tendai Chitza whose header was easily saved.

Three minutes later a James Hicks ball played Tom Siddons in on goal but a great save denied the Daniels front man. The Daniels finally got their reward for this early pressure as Yaxley failed to deal with a cross allowing James Hicks an easy finish.

Ten minutes later the Daniels had their second as Tendai Chitza finished well after Yaxley again failed to clear the ball. Soon after it was three as a storming run from Jon Challinor saw him in a good position to cross, his pinpoint cross found Hicks who scored his second of the game. Towards the end of the half the post denied Stamford their forth as Chitza, Siddons and Hicks were all denied.

The first half also saw Yaxley reduced to ten men as Ross Watson was sent off for a stamp on Harry Vince.

The second half continued in a similar way as Stamford continued with a string of chances. Excellent saves from Aaron Butcher in the Yaxley goal denied Tom Siddons and Pearson Mwanyongo.

The former scored to make it four on the hour mark. The ball bounced to Siddons whose strike on the turn was exceptional. Later in the half a number of chances fell to the Daniels including a free-kick from range from Ollie Brown-Hill and a curling effort from Mwanyongo.

With fifteen minutes to go the visitors were reduced to nine men as Liam Hook was dismissed with a second yellow following a clumsy tackle on Harry Vince. In the latter stages of the game Danny Haystead was forced into a couple of good saves to keep his clean sheet.
