Stamford started brightly and Trey Charles had an effort blocked in the opening minutes. Then the home side had an effort from a corner which was deflected wide of the goal.
The Daniels took the lead on thirteen minutes when Charles cut in from the right and fired a shot which hit the post. Fortunately, for the Daniels, it then hit the Melton keeper on the back of the head before going into the net.
Then Melton had a couple of efforts to equalise when a long range shot was tipped over the bar by Ben Whiting. Then from the resultant corner the ball came out to the edge of the box and again Whiting tipped over the bar.
Charles was getting a lot of success down the right and had a shot blocked and hooked off the line. He then scored after twenty-five minutes when he robbed the goalkeeper on the edge of the box and he slotted the ball home into the empty net.
Stamford made it three after 26 minutes when they were awarded a penalty when Charles was fouled in the box. He stepped up and set the keeper the wrong way.
The Daniels nearly grabbed a fourth when good interchange play from Mike Armstrong and Bradley Munns found Jenson Cooper but the Stamford forward was denied by the home keeper.
Into the second half and the home side grabbed a goal back when a cross from the left and the Melton number 16 rifled a shot into the top corner of the net.
Stamford grabbed a fourth after fifty-seven minutes when Ricky Miller found himself one on one with the Melton keeper and he slid the ball past him into the net.
Substitute Ashton Offler almost made an immediate impact when he headed the ball over the bar from a Ollie Brown-Hill corner.
With twenty minutes remaining, Rob Morgan found Lee Shaw who placed the ball into the net from just outside the box.
Stamford grabbed a sixth on 74 minutes when Billy Bennett crossed the ball for Jenson Cooper to slot home.
The goalscoring was completed three minutes from time when Cooper scored a second from a cross from Jack Duffy.
