Saturday the fourth of March sees the visit of Romulus to Borderville for the first of five games to be played there in the month.
Both sides come into the game in some poor form having only won one of their last five games in the league, with three losses and one draw making up the others. Stamford’s win came in the game last weekend in a 2-1 victory over mid-table Chasetown. Danny Draper and Grant Ryan scored the goals in this game either side of half time.
Last time out against the Birmingham based side the Daniels had a rather poor result getting beaten 4-2 after going 3-0 down after just 26 minutes. In the game Stamford had a second half revival playing some much better football and looking like a completely different line-up than the one that started but could only score two whilst conceding another. Sloppy defending and some not so clinical finishing cost the Daniels that night and so they will be looking for a much better performance to keep the momentum of the Chasetown result going.
As for Romulus they come into the game having lost their last three games. The first of which was a 4-0 loss against Spalding, then 1-0 to Stocksbridge and finally last Saturday they lost 2-1 to Leek but before this patch of poor form they had two very good results against playoff pushing sides beating Rushden and Diamonds 3-2 and drawing with Basford 2-2.
With a win in this game Stamford can go within one point of Romulus and potentially go above Market Drayton depending on their result which will close the gap on the bunch above in the league with teams all the way up to eighth potentially just four points away with a win.
