Late defensive show sees Daniels bring a point back to Lincolnshire.

Two minutes in and Stamford had a bright start, a cross came to new signing Callum Ball but he couldn’t get a shot away, he laid the ball to Jordan Smith who found Ben George whose cross came back to Callum Ball whose header was easily saved. Seven minutes later Jon Challinor shot from range but his shot was easily saved. Sheffield had their first chance of the game just a minute later, on the counter attack, with Rob Worrall playing in Andrew Gascoigne who shot wide.

Up the other end Stamford forced another save out of Louis Jones with a deflected Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson shot. Two minutes later Stamford should have taken the lead as Jordan Smith crossed to Rob Morgan whose shot was spilled by the Sheffield keeper, the ball fell to Callum Ball who hit the post from the edge of the six yard box and then Liam Adams volleyed wide.

Seven minutes later and Mike Armstrong prevented what looked like an almost certain goal, Kuda Muskwe was played through but he intervened with a last ditch challenge. Five minutes later a Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson cross was cleared by Ben Turner as Liam Adams was about to tap in. At the other end Adam Chapman shot from range but the ball bounced out off the post. A minute later Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson shot from range but his shot was deflected and then comfortably saved by Jones in the Sheffield goal. A minute later Rob Morgan tackled a Sheffield defender as he failed to clear but his shot was easily saved. Just before the break Sheffield should have taken the lead as Sam Finlaw couldn’t finish with the two attempts he had. The first was well saved by Danny Haystead, then he failed to finish into an empty net. In stoppage time of the first half Ben George had a good chance but could only put his shot wide. The final chance of the half fell to Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson whose shot was deflected.

Two minutes after the break Jake Duffy, who was subbed on at half time for Jon Challinor, latched on to a loose ball but shot over. A minute later Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson was played in on goal but shot wide. Eliot Putman shot from the edge of the box, his shot went just wide but Liam Adams nearly got there to tap in. On the 62nd minute Ollie Brown-Hill replaced Liam Adams. Five minutes later Rob Morgan closed down the Sheffield right back and then latched on to the loose ball before crossing to Callum Ball whose shot was well saved.

Following this Sam Hollis replaced Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson. Andrew Gascoigne then went close for the home side following a clever free-kick. A minute later he then put a free-kick well over the bar. In the last minutes of the game Sheffield looked to snatch a winner but some strong defending by Henry Eze and Mike Armstrong made sure the Daniels were returning to Lincolnshire with a point.
