Stamford finished this game against bottom side with 9 men after the returning Greg Smith & Ollie Brown-Hill were sent off.

The visitors who are bottom of the league but have undergone major changes in personnel in recent weeks almost got off to a great start when a free kick was swung in from the left and a scramble in the Daniels goal only cleared the ball to Albert Lansdowne whose shot cannoned off the post and away from danger.

Stamford made the most of this narrow escape and the ball was in the net a minute later when Ryan Seal was released, and he beat the defender to the ball and rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home from a tight angle to score his sixth goal in seventeen appearances.

Stamford have more chances to increase their lead but neither Joe Boachie or Greg Smith could find the target. Smith then required treatment after colliding with the perimeter fencing after trying to keep the ball in play.

The Daniels doubled their lead when they were awarded a penalty for handball. The ball was swung in from the right and the referee adjudged that it had struck a Gresley defender hand. Smith stepped up and sent Charles Price the wrong way to open his latest Daniels account.

What had been a relatively smooth game changed five minutes before half time when Smith rose with Micah Edwards to challenge for the ball and the referee adjudged that too much force had been shown and sent Smith for an early shower.

Despite being a man light, Stamford continued press Gresley for more goal and Boachie again went close with a couple of efforts. Ryan Seal & substitute Jack Gurney also having shots saved by Price in the Gresley goal.

With ten minutes remaining Gresley got a goal back. The ball was only partially cleared, and the ball fell to Kane Lee who fired the shot past Haystead.

With five minutes left on the clock, Ollie Brown-Hill was introduced to the action in place of Ryan Seal and within a minute the Daniels forward evaded a couple of challenges and as he broke into the box the forward went down and the referee decided that he had dived and showed him a yellow card.

With the game in injury time Stamford were reduced to nine players when Brown-Hill was shown a second yellow. Again, he broke into the box and he went down under a challenge from the Gresley keeper but the referee deemed it a dive and showed him a second yellow.

Gresley, had one final chance to claim a point but Jake Mcintosh put his effort wide of the goal.
