There were two changes to the starting line up compared to the draw at Histon. Mike Armstrong and Cosmos Matwasa coming in for Sean Wright and Zayn Hakeem.

It was the visitors who started the best and forced a couple of early corners which was easily dealt with.

Stamford first shot on target came on fourteen minutes when Tendai Chitiza met a Jake Duffy free kick but his effort was blocked on the line.

Daventry took the lead on 21 minutes when a cross from the right was met by Joel Nketia and he powered a header past Dan Wallis.

After a lacklustre start by the Daniels, going behind seemed to spark them into life. First Jack Duffy had a shot that missed the target before he set up Cameron Johnson who managed to sky his effort with the goal at his mercy.

Stamford levelled just after the half hour mark when James Blunden met a Jake Duffy corner and the ball sailed into the top corner of the net. Stamford took the lead a few minutes later when Johnson crossed from the right and Chitiza was able to slot the ball home from close range.

In the second half, Stamford continued on the front foot and they added a third on 54 minutes when a cross from the left was headed back by a combination of Cosmos Matwasa and Jack Duffy for Harry Vince to hook the ball home.

Within second of the restart, Stamford had a fourth. From the kick-off the ball was played back to a Daventry defender and Jack Duffy disposed the player and slotted the ball past the stranded keeper.

Midway through the second half, Daventry missed a great opportunity to get a goal back. A cross from the left was missed by the Daniels back line and Nat Gosnal-Tyler fired his shot past Wallis but his effort came back off the post but the rebound was blazed over the bar.

Stamford scored a fifth on Jake Duffy delivered a corner from the left and Jack Duffy rose highest to head the ball past James Martin in the Daventry goal.

As the clock ran down there was still time for effort on goal Rob Morgan and Connor Bartle which the Daventry defence managed to repel.
