Stamford Lose Ground

Stamford made two changes from the win over Histon. James Blunden and Rob Morgan replaced Stacey Freeman and Cosmos Matwasa. The latter was among the substitutes.

Stamford started brightly and Joe Burgess had a shot which was deflected wide for a corner to the Daniels.

This was followed by an effort from Rob Morgan whose overhead kick was saved by Jonathan Brown in the home goal.

With nineteen minutes gone Jonathan Margetts crossed from the right and the ball deflected off a defender almost leading to an own goal.

Midway through the first half, Stamford were forced into a change when Rob Morgan sustained an injury. Cosmos Matwasa replaced him.

On the half hour mark, Leo Brown had a shot which Dan Haystead was able to save.

Then the Daniels struck the post when a shot from James Hicks rebound off the post and away from danger.

As the half neared to a close, Sutton Coldfield had a free kick. The effort from Jack Burgess was fired over the bar.

Then Connor Bartle fired a shot a cross the box and Margetts was just out of reach to connect with it and send it goalwards.

On the stroke of half time, Sutton were awarded a free-kick. This was crossed in by Jack Burgess and this time it was met by Curvin Ellis who rose highest to head the ball past Haystead.

In the second half, Harry Vince went close early on but his effort was over the bar.

Leading goal scorer Jack Duffy was introduced, ten minutes in the second half but he could fashion a chance to add to his tally for the season.

The home side made it difficult for the Daniels to break them down and the efforts that were generated were easily dealt with by Brown in the Royals goal.

With six minutes remaining, Tendai Chitiza fired a shot, but it was just wide of the goal.
