Stamford secured a seventh successive league win with victory over Coleshill Town at the Zeeco Stadium on Saturday.

Connor Bartle's fine first half strike put the Daniels ahead at the interval of the Northern Premier League Midlands Division contest. Although Stamford saw their six-match run of clean sheets broken early in the second half, two goals in five minutes from Harry Vince and Joe Burgess sealed another tidy triumph.

With third-placed Halesowen being held to a draw at Belper, Stamford are now just one point away from the Yeltz who currently hold the one of the two spots that have home advantage in the play-off semi-finals. Striker Jack Duffy returned to the Stamford starting line-up in the only change to last week's win over Loughborough Dynamo.

A lively start saw both teams threaten in the opening exchanges with Tendai Chitiza going close for the Daniels and Josh Willis curling an effort wide for the visitors. The deadlock was then broken after 14 minutes when Bartle collected possession on the edge of the area and drilled a well-placed right-footed shot into the top corner of the Coleshill net.

Stamford looked to quickly extend their lead and both Jack Duffy and Jonathan Margetts went close. But Coleshill also offered a strong attacking threat and Amivar Sandhu's dangerous cross just evaded the visiting forwards while Sean Wright got a vital headed touch onto a through ball to find Dan Haystead as the impressive Kai Tonge looked to break clear.

Margetts was then denied by Hathaway's block after the Stamford striker had created space in the box before a last-ditch tackle diverted another effort wide. Marshall Willock then rattled the Coleshill crossbar after a smart turn and first-time shot in the area following a corner.

Hathaway then excelled with a fine full length save to turn away Cosmos Matwasa's drive as Stamford were unable to increase their advantage before the break. The save was to prove crucial as after just 46 seconds of the second half Coleshill had levelled.

George Washbourne took advantage of some defensive uncertainty and, although Haystead saved well from his initial effort, Tonge was on hand to convert the rebound.
The equaliser seemed to rock Stamford who took time to find the same attacking rhythm as the previous half. But the confidence began to return, and they eventually got back into the groove and regained the lead after 70 minutes when Margetts chased a through ball and went down under Shay Palmer's challenge.

Vince then converted the spot kick by sending Hathaway the wrong way for a goal which rejuvenated the Daniels. They added their third five minutes later when Willock's downward header from a corner was turned home at close range by Burgess.

Margetts could have made it four, only for Hathaway to save at his feet as he broke clear, before Matwasa saw his surging run end with a shot that was dragged wide as Stamford finished the game in the ascendency.
