For the first 15 minutes the Stamford ladies withstood wave after wave of attacking play from their opponents and were unlucky to go 1-0 when the defence were caught by a neat lob in the path of the Lincoln striker who finished from close range.
Thereafter 2 more goals were conceded by half time.
The second half saw the home team pressing high up the pitch and despite some excellent defending conceded a further 3 goals.
Stamford didn’t leave completely empty handed when Molly Cunningham scored from close range amid great celebrations to make it 6-1.
For a newly formed team this was a great achievement and bodes well for the growth of the game within the community.
The ladies gave it all and will be remembered as the first local side for many years to make the Semi Finals of a County Cup.
