Buoyed on by Stamford supporters who came to see the ladies including 1st team mens manager, Graham Drury the ladies turned on an opening 25 minute masterclass that all but secured the Cup.
Captain, Lauren Bartle opened the scoring in the 5th minute when the Ruston goalkeeper failed to hold onto a low ball that found itself in the back of the net to make it 1-0. The league’s leading goalscorer, Molly Cunningham then made it 2-0 in the 21st minute with a powerful strike after a Bartle assist.
Zina Cheikh then made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute when she out sprinted the defender to shoot past the Ruston goalkeeper.
The second half saw the ladies dominate possession but some excellent saves from the Ruston goalkeeper denied the ladies securing a 4th goal.
This was a hugely symbolic day for the ladies in only their first season.
They now move on to the last league match of the season at the Zeeco on 21st May at 2pm where a win will secure them the league title and a unique Double.
