Late Britton winner seals a deserved 3 points

ALEX Britton scored a sensational stoppage time winner as Stapenhill twice came from behind to snatch victory at Terrace Road.

Earlier, Umar Hussain had opened the scoring for Town, with Paul Furniss equalising just after the break.

Connor O'Gray looked like he had won it when he made it 2-1 for the hosts with six minutes to go but Lewis Campbell levelled again on 88 minutes before Britton had the final dramatic say.

The Swans started brightly, with a long goal kick from Harry Bullock flicked on by Callum McBride to Tom Liversage – but the striker's first-time effort flew just over.

Then a dangerous cross whipped in from the left by Britton just eluded McBride and Liversage as they slid in at the far post.

Six minutes into the game, the hosts took the lead with their first attack.

Zak Yusuf beat Nathan Rolph down the left and his cross reached Hussain, the winger, on the edge of the box, hammering an unstoppable shot past Bullock.

The Swans could hardly believe it and stepped up a gear thereafter.

Alex Rowland's precision through-ball released McBride, whose shot beat keeper Mark Radforth but rebounded off the post.

It was one-way traffic now, with Rowland teeing up Harry Austin to crash the ball inches over.

The pressure continued with Lucas Harrison hitting Liversage, whose close-range shot was beaten out by Radforth to Rowland, who scuffed the rebound back to the keeper.

Then, in the final action of the first half, Rowland found Liversage, who cut along the by-line and dragged the ball back to the midfielder who saw his shot deflected for a corner.

A minute into the second half, the Swans finally got their reward.

Town defender Joe Neal brought down Liversage just inside the box and referee Ryan Kelly pointed to the spot.

Protests by Town that the offence took place outside the area cut no ice with the official.

Furniss stepped up and buried the ball into the bottom corner.

Moments later, the Swans were indebted to keeper Bullock who made a terrific save to deny Lee Hillier who had been put clear one-on-one with the keeper by O'Grady.

At the other end, Joe Swift picked out Liversage – but he could not beat Radforth.

The keeper was in action again soon after, saving a Liversage shot at the foot of his post.

On the hour, a McBride cross caused mayhem in the home box with defender Hunt completely miskicking the ball. It fell perfectly for Rowland, who hammered the ball goalwards only for Neal to put his body on the line with a tremendous block.

On 70 minutes, a perfectly-weighted through-ball from Brent Upton put Campbell in on goal but Radforth made a fine save.

In a rare foray forward by Town, Hussain cut the ball back from the by-line to substitute Radoslaw Gaglewski but his shot was blocked and a gilt-edged opportunity was lost.

At the other end, Harrison surged forward but Hunt got across to deny the midfielder with a crucial sliding tackle.

Both teams went all out for the win and threw caution to the wind.

However, it was Town who struck first in the 84th minute.

Captain Carl Timms worked the ball forward from midfield with a series of one-twos before picking out O'Grady who strode forward and, as the Swans defenders backed off, kept going before trying his luck from fully 25 yards with a low shot which went just inside Bullock's left-hand post.

As the Swans' frustration grew, a clash between the Town keeper Radforth and Swans midfielder Upton ended with both players being booked.

In the 88th minute, Campbell played in Upton but Radforth made a fine reaction save to deny the midfielder.

Unfortunately for the keeper, Campbell followed up to smash the ball home.

And well into injury time, Austin found Britton well inside the box and the striker took a touch before hammering the ball into the roof of the net past a helpless Radforth.
