Update after latest COVID-19 announcements

Following the announcement over the weekend, and the new restrictions coming into place on Thursday 5th November, we must close down our facilities at the club once again for a period of 4 weeks. This means the last training sessions to be held at the club until at least the 3rd December will be Tuesday 3rd Nov for seniors and Wednesday 4th Nov for the Youth Section. The clubhouse will also be closed, so the Friday and Saturday events will not be going ahead until December either now.

Clearly as the Exec Committee we are disappointed for you as players, members and supporters that we will not be able to meet, socialise and train for the next 4 weeks. The safety and health of all connected to the club is of paramount importance. We trust that all will adhere to the instructions from the government and follow the guidelines issued. This will hopefully keep our community safe, protect our loved ones and the vulnerable in our town. It will also ensure that we can re-open our facilities ASAP in early December.

The Exec Committee will continue to work in the background to do all we can to plan and keep our staff and facilities safe. Our AGM is due during the lockdown period, so keep an eye out for either a revised date, or a move to a virtual AGM. We will make this decision soon and let you know.

I would like to take the opportunity to say a huge thank you to all the volunteers that have been working over the last few months on behalf of the club. Whether that is committee members who have been tirelessly putting on events and ensuring operations could proceed under the rules we have been under, or the coaches and managers from both the senior and youth sections. It has been a strange and difficult time, but we have been able to provide a form of Rugby (not as we know it though) and something for our players. Your efforts are really appreciated!

To the supporters who have been attending the Friday and Saturday events, this has been important to provide a social support to each other, as well as some income for the club whilst we have no way of generating any sales. Each pint bought or item purchased from the shop does make a difference and has ensured the club remains viable.

If you are in a difficult position, feeling isolated, lonely or vulnerable, as a club we are here to support our members and community so please pick up the phone and have a chat to someone, or ask for help. We are in this together, and we all need each other. Contacts for Exec are lower down in this article

In these tough times for the club, we are more reliant than usual on the generosity and goodwill of our members, supporters and sponsors. If you have not yet taken out your 2020-2021 membership (how to do it is HERE), or renewed your sponsorship, please could you consider doing so now. Also we have several fund raising activities ongoing, and would ask you to support them whenever you can. There are raffles planned for Christmas (click HERE to find out how to but tickets) and the 100 Club (£5 per month, click HERE to find out how to get involved) for a monthly prize.
