With just over two weeks to go before the start of the season, the excitement is already starting to build!
The turn out on training nights has been fantastic with more than 40 seniors and over 20 Colts being put through their paces every Tuesday and Thursday evening. The Seniors played their first warm-up game against Launceston last Thursday with the Saints fielding two completely different XVs in each half. The coaches will have been very pleased with the work out in the searing heat in front of a large appreciative crowd.
Some of our Youth teams are now back in training getting ready for the new season.
Match Day Volunteers
We would like to expand our pool of volunteers to help the Saints match day run smoothly so that it is a fun experience for everyone. If you can spare some time to help with any of the following:
Our aim is to get a sizeable pool of volunteers so that we can share the workload into manageable amounts and be as flexible as possible with people being part of a rota.
If you able to support in any way please contact our Volunteer Lead Al Cummins alancummins@live.co.uk

Saints Match Reporter
Are you or someone you know a budding sports journalist? Do you have aspirations to do media studies at college? Do you believe the word processor is mightier than the ruck?
Then how about writing the Saints match reports that feature on the website and in the local press? Again we are looking for a volunteer, or a group of volunteers to share the task.
This would suit a student with an interest in media studies or a keen-eyed rugby supporter who wishes to share their insightful views on all things Saints in a weekly narrative with a wider audience! The fruits of your labours need to be submitted to the papers by first thing on Monday morning and will be published on our website and promoted across all the Club’s social media channels.
Scoreboard Operator
We need someone to operate the scoreboard to ensure it reflects the right scores while the Saints rack up the points. So if you are comfortable adding up in denominations of 3, 5 and 7 then this is the role for you! Training will be provided!
We would like to establish a group of volunteers who would be able to share the role on a rota basis. It will help us to ensure there is cover for the majority of our home games.
PA Announcer
We need someone to provide the soundtrack to the Saints match day and help build the atmosphere! The requirement is to broadcast key messages to the crowd during the course of the afternoon or evening. These include safety announcements, team selections, in-game updates on scorers, replacements and sponsors, food and drinks information and the promotion of future events.
We would like to establish a group of volunteers who would be able to share the role on a rota basis. It will help us to ensure there is cover for the majority of our home games.
Grounds and Maintenance
Most of the maintenance at Tregorrick Park is undertaken by volunteers. We would like to expand our pool of volunteers to share the workload and enhance the skills and knowledge available to the Club.
We will be doing a skills audit in the early part of the season to help build up a database of skills that might be available to support the Club. We are looking at establishing a number of different ways to deliver our maintenance programme including:
Your contribution may be regularly, occasionally or one-off – whatever it is it will be highly valuable to the Club. If you are able to support in any way please contact our Volunteer Lead Al Cummins alancummins@live.co.uk
