Saints v Bideford 2nd March 19

February has been an amazing month for weather with temperatures hitting and exceeding the mid-teens but not so great for the Saints. March is only a few hours away as I type this and Spring-like optimism abounds for a better run in to the end of the season!

On 22nd December Bideford recorded a 103-0 win over Chard. This form didn’t last as league challengers Crediton took a close win against them on 5th January 21-16. Since then very close scores have been a theme for Bideford with some of them going the wrong way and others not. They did turn over Kingsbridge at Kingsbridge which is no mean feat before, a week later, losing to bottom of the table Paignton at home. So if we are looking for a pattern there isn’t one! They then went on to confound any statisticians by beating Saltash away then put the icing on the confusion cake, Sidmouth at home!!

They now sit a little more safely in 10th position on 35 points after 20 games. Basically it would seem that what you see on the day is what you get!

Saints as mentioned above have had a February to forget. Narrowly defeated by Wadebridge and Wellington in the league then a comprehensive defeat to the Camels again in the semi-final of the County Cup. This leaves the Saints mathematically in third but threatened by Wellington with a game in hand. They have experienced a number of injuries recently leaving key players off the park. This has offered some opportunities for those on the fringe of the first team which positively highlights our depth as a club.

Heartfelt words from Captain Miles Davey: “I’d be lying if I said that I’m not hurting from a disappointing Saints weekend. Every team has its good and bad days but in my experiences days like Saturday can only make you stronger as an individual and team. Our focus now is to learn and adapt in our last six league games proving we are a great team. This Saturday brings great motivation, having gone to Bideford earlier in the season to lose narrowly. We owe ourselves and the supporters a backlash performance especially at home! Saints Family! Let’s go COYS”

It would be fantastic to see a huge crowd up at Tregorrick Park this Saturday. The Saints really need to hear your voices so let’s make that happen!

The Sinners have a return match against the Camels second team at Tregorrick also this Saturday. They kick off is yet to be confirmed and when I get it I will update everyone but your support for them is also appreciated. Colts are away to Penryn.
