We took part in the Herts 7's, a compettion for District Associations in Hertfordshire. Host St Albans would field 2 x U11 teams plus a younger U10 development side, Dacorum also brought a strong team and Stevenage split their squad over two teams (U10 and u11).

The U11's proved too strong for their team mates in their opening fixture, with both sides unusually quiet and struggling to play any football. The older boys came out victorious with Joey Parker opening the scoring and then Vinnie Garwood adding a second from a corner to take the three points.

The second fixture wasagainst a good Dacorum team and it was a fairly even affair with both sides having oppoetunities to score. In the end Dacorum scored the only goal of the game to win 1-0 and inflict a first defeat. We spoke about the need to be clinical with our chances in these short games, and in truth we struggled to create many opportunities against St Albans Blues (2nd team). The game was decidied with a stunning back to front move from Stevenage that ended with Theo rounding the keeper in the box and netting to win the game 1-0.

The game against St Albans Yellows would probably decide the overall winners, and it was a very good game with Stevenage giving as good as they got. But after one good move broke down, the hosts broke away and scored a good goal, albeit off of both posts. With a minute left it was a cruel blow after we had owrked so hard to stay in this game.

The final game against the younger St Albans U10's was disappointing, we were unable to break them down and the game ended all square at 0-0 leaving us in third spot overall. But there were some good moments today, I can see how good we can be when we are passing the ball quickly and linking up in quick little moves.
