Battling Town beaten by league leaders.

It was top versus bottom at the Simpsons Sports Ground, Woolton, Liverpool. Even the most optimistic Town supporter would probably be writing this one off. It only took two minutes for the home team to score, after a midfield mix up allowed MSB Woolton to take the lead. Earlier in the season this would have led to a scoreline more resembling a one sided rugby match, but Town have come a long way in that short space of time. Town battled hard and pulled it back 1-1 thanks to striker Ryan Cook. Town’s Alex Higham caused MSB huge problems as he harried down the right wing. Along with the solid defensive pairing of Michael Dunne and Thomas White, it looked like Town might get something from the game after all.

The second half carried on much like the first with Town battling for every ball. However MSB managed to score first which felt a little unfair, but that’s football. MSB started to show why they’re top of the league and in the 63 minute scored again with an absolute beauty of a strike. The last 30 minutes and at 3-1 up there was only going to be one winner. A fourth goal for MSB in injury time gave a scoreline that felt harsh on Town, but no one could deny the league leaders were deserved winners.
