St Helens Town are delighted to announce they will welcome TSV Uhlbach 1898 (Stuttgart) to the Arcoframe Stadium on Saturday 7th July 2018.

Town will open their 2018-19 pre-season friendly schedule by hosting the German outfit TSV Uhlbach 1898 (Stuttgart). The teams will contest the Bert Trautmann Trophy which has previously been presented in two encounters v Manchester City XI: the first to mark the 60th anniversary of Bert’s transfer from St Helens Town to Manchester City back in 2009 and in a commemorative match following the death of our club President Bert in 2013.

Our German visitors will spend a few days in the borough as part of the 70th anniversary of the twinning arrangement between the town of St Helens and city of Stuttgart. This forms part of this year’s celebrations of the 150th anniversary of Queen Victoria signing the Royal Charter that incorporated the borough of St Helens.

The match, sponsored by Unite the Union St Helens branch, will form an integral part of a weekend of events celebrating the twinning arrangement with Stuttgart, and an official delegation from the German city will be attending the match. We will be proud to welcome Deputy Mayor Dr. Martin Schairer, Deputy Director of International Relations Dr. Frédéric Stephan, other representatives of the City government and a team of journalists to the Arcoframe, for what will be a very special day.

TSV Uhlbach 1898 is a Stuttgart sports club with a proud history. Its football section was founded in 1946 and now includes 12 teams across the age groups. The club has 1,200 members and has won an award from the Baden-Würrtemberg Football Association for the quality of its volunteer engagement.

With a 5.30pm kick off the game will be sandwiched between two World Cup Quarter Final ties on the same day, providing a feast of football for fans.

Match day admission prices will be £6.00 Adults, £3.00 Concessions and U16s are offered FREE entry when accompanying a paying adult.

Spectators will also be able to purchase advance tickets online via the club’s Eventbrite page with £4.50 Adults and £2.50 Concessions; free U16s tickets are also available. The club will be producing a commemorative match programme costing £2.00.
