St.Ives Roosters were on the road for the second consecutive week as they took on a MK Wolves side that had failed to fulfil their first two fixtures whilst waiting for the local union seasons to end.

Roosters didn't know what to expect from MK as they hadn't played each other since the shield final in 2013, and although Roosters were the victors in that day, they were keen to take a strong side to Milton Keynes. With the addition of skipper Josh Meadows at hooker and Chris Sykes back in the prop rotation it bolstered the squad that played very well at Brentwood the week before.

Roosters started where they left off at Brentwood and scored in the first few minutes. Doug Smith scampered down the touch line to score in the corner. Simple rugby and a team performance was the order of the day, Roosters sent the big lads through the middle and then found gaps out wide. Will Manley, Gabriel Edwards, Jack Trolove, David Sykes, Mickey Drake and Barnie West all scored similar tries on the back of some fine flowing rugby.

Two minutes of complacency just before half time let MK score in the corner before the onslaught continued in the second half. Roosters had to provide a referee for both halves, James Snart volunteered for the first half and Paul Ashbridge, who had so far kicked 6/7 conversions, did the second. So after a re shuffle, Mandley moved from full back to pivot and quickly settled into his new role with a score, his second of the day.

MK Wolves kept last seasons Roosters man of steel, Tommy Newman, quiet in the first half but he wasn't to be denied as he ran in a quick fire double from close range. Will Mandley then completed his hatrick and debutant Gabriel Edwards showed why the skipper has been so keen to get him involved as he ran in 3 tries in the space of 10 minutes, four in total.

Skipper, Josh Meadows, then got himself on the scoresheet after he was found by impressive half back Mickey Drake. Drake was involved in the next attack aswell when he found Barnie West out wide who won the race against the full back to dot down for his second of the day.

All credit to MK Wolves who showed determination throughout, one prop in particular was relentless and was rewarded for his efforts with the final score of the game. Final score 8-88.

Josh Meadows had plenty to say at the final whistle. 'Today's game was over at half time, if not before. And it's credit to our lads that we didn't lose focus. It would've been easy for individuals to get greedy but we played as a team for 80 minutes and at times we were very impressive. We'll work hard at training over the next two weeks before we face North Herts Crusaders at our new home on June 2nd. Which, after recent results, we're sure will be a much sterner test.'
