Buckingham U17's 0 - St Ives U 17’s 31
On another great autumnal sunny day St Ives arrived afer a long drive for their first league match of the season.
St Ives won the toss and elected to play up the considerable slope for the first half. The forwards set the tone from the off with some great counter rucking and mauling which saw the majority of the first half being played in the Buckingham half. When Buckingham did threaten the St Ives line great defending kept them out, but they were always a threat as they had the advantage of the slope at the scrum which put St Ives under pressure and a very dangerous number 11 who ran the ball back in attack very effectively.
But as the game wore on St Ives started to put points on the board. In total control at the line out and with the slope in our favour in the second half St Ives set up camp in the Buckingham half. Injuries and substitutions meant some swapping of positions and substitutions which made no difference to the balance or effectiveness of the team. With two tries apiece for James Hunter and Max Dominy plus a great training ground move which saw Dean Parkin go over in the corner saw St Ives come out worthy winners at the end.
Final score 0-31
A well deserved win by a fantastic team performance and a great game, played hard by both teams.
