St. Ives 8 v 0 Shelford

From the kick-off St. Ives played with intent as Zac Ling almost scored directly from the start, but was bundled into touch. Shelford won their line-out ball, but couldn’t make ground as solid tackling from Harry Spittle and Damon Cameron-White kept the ball within striking distance of the line. The pressure told as the ball found its way to Adam Roberts who went over in the corner. The score was soon doubled as Thomas Johnson repeated the feat, picking up from a ruck and scoring in the corner. The conditions didn’t help the struggling visitors, as St. Ives kept them out of their half and forced them into touch. The Blues won the line-out and drove forward well. Harry made a clean break, and fed Eamon Byrne who was tackled just short of the line, but Jacob King was on hand to clean up and slide over the line. HT: 3 – 0

Shelford attempted to make ground early in the half, but St. Ives managed to steal the ball and shuffled the ball to Thomas who managed to run through and score again. Shelford were still getting no change from the Blues, as they again stole possession; then Jacob King made good ground with a superb run only for the conditions to take their toll, as the pass went to ground as Tommy McCarthy appeared a certainty to score. However, the relief was short-lived, as Damon was able to disrupt the scrum, pick-up and score. Jacob Mackay then made his presence felt with a great drive, Zac quickly fed Tommy, and with the defence tied into the maul, he was able to stroll over in the corner. There was no respite for Shelford, as some good interpassing between Damon and Adam produced some space for Thomas to exploit and score his third of the game. It was strong tackling again from Damon which enabled a loose ball to be snaffled by the industrious Zac for him to finish off the scoring.
