About the team

Our Inclusive & Walking Rugby sessions are on a Monday night at 6.30 PM and continue to be popular and have grown in numbers over this last year.

Walking or Inclusive Rugby section has around 18 members with an average attendance of around 12-14. We continue to be inclusive with playing ages between 16-70. The format allows cross generational members and families to play together in a competitive, yet light-hearted sessions with a social post game drink, and a chance to make new friends and bring new members into the club. We play on the Astro pitch and no previous experience of rugby is needed.

The friendly and inclusive ethos we have in Walking Rugby reached the ears of the NHS, who have asked whether we would be willing to accept people suffering from depression, fitness, and social anxiety issues, attending sessions as part of their treatment and return to health.

Call out to ex-players and others:

There is a desire to grow the walking rugby section to have members within the usual competition age range (52+) and a desire for surprisingly very competitive and quick rugby in a rapidly growing format.

Don't be fooled by the Walking moniker - some of those oldies are just as competitive and possibly as cantankerous now as they were 20 years ago.

Ideally once numbers were large enough they would run as 2 sections alongside each other - Walking and Inclusive Rugby, to cater for those looking for just fun and social sessions or hardcore nutters who don't want to give up competitive rugby just because their bodies can't take full contact anymore.
