15 Tries For Mary's

St Mary's Ladies continued their impressive start to 2020 with a clinical victory against a really gallant Westbury side. Mary's got off to a flier when Danielle Rigby crossed before stand in winger (complete with fancy go faster boots) raced in just a minute later. Full back Chloe Tucker was next on the score sheet when she raced away on 13 minutes, before a brace by No8 Jade Gamlin saw Mary's get a bonus point after half an hour. Before half time both Danielle Rigby and Chloe Tucker added their second tries of the day and with Gambo slotting all 7 tries Mary's led 49-0 at half time. There would be no let up in the second half when substitute scrum half Tori Gillmartin caught the restart and set off on a 50m run to score her second in as many games and the tries would keep coming. Boe Meaton and Ginny Troughton both crossed before Jade Gamlin completed her hat trick. And further scores were added by Ann Webb, Ginny Troughton and Tori Gillmartin before the most deserved try of the day saw Elaine Hughes cross after making about 900 supporting runs throughout the match to complete the scoring and bring up 101 points for the hosts. Gambo converted for her 14th of 15 conversions and take her tally for the day to 43 points (but we'll all remember that dummy that went wrong more!) Today was a pretty clinical day for Mary's who finished almost all the chances they created. Westbury deserve huge credit for never giving up and they worked tirelessly in defence whilst creating some good opportunities themselves. The score certainly doesn't reflect the effort that they put into the match. For Mary's things are looking good as we build towards some massive fixtures over the next few weeks. Prop Milly O'Donnell impressed hugely with some fantastic carries whilst Megan Habgood and Sarah Wright had their best games of the season. Michaela Excell's tackling stood out whilst Danielle Rigby controlled things very well at 10. Jade Gamlin deserves special mention for an outstanding individual performance and whos kicking is without doubt the best in the league. Coaches player this week was Boe Meaton who continues to impress whilst players player went to Tori Gillmartin who was very impressive at 9. Next up for Marys is Portsmouth in the cup on 26 Jan.
