Mary's Lose in Local Derby

Old Reds took the lead early on after taking 2 successive quick penalties to crash over under the posts which Reds converted. They extended the lead when Reds capitalised on a loose ball after there fly half looked to pass forward and went down the wing to score to go 12-0 up.

St Mary's pulled a try back with winger Amber Daum breaking down the wing to score under the posts which centre Laura Rugman converted. However Reds scored right before the half ended to go 17-7 up at the interval.

Mary's were unfortunate to concede early on in half with a pass looking forward not given by the ref to take 22-7 lead. Mary's stepped it up in the 2nd half and scored a good try after good simply play down the line from Mary's which centre Laura Rugman powered through to score. Winger Amber Daum then produced a great run down her wing to score under the posts but Laura Rugman missed the conversion but score was now 17-22. As Mary's we're looking to get the decisive try to win the game in last play of the game they unfortunate lost the ball forward which Old Reds latched onto and broke through to score.

Mary's were missing a few key players and had a playing players out of position but Old Reds deserved the win and were more up for the game and more aggressive from the first whistle. Mary's edged the scrums but Old Reds dominated in the line outs and rucks and made it difficult for Mary's to get clean ball.

Laura Rugman and Amber Daum played well in the backs and prop Kerry Diedericks and Laura Mahoney, playing at number 8, put in good performances in the forwards.
