Good outing for the team as cobwebs blown away.

The club travelled up to north on Saturday to take part in the Blairgowrie 10s tournament, a tournament the club has always enjoyed supporting.

A squad of 12 travelled that included three new faces - Peter Ward, Steven McIrvine and Scott McFarlane - and this gave Club Captain Andy a good chance to have a look at the players before competitive 15-a-side action starts. There were a further 10 players who had declared themselves unavailable which was disappointing but this gave the 12 a good chance to impress.

The side played four matches in total before having to withdraw from the tournament after a series of injuries left Andy in a position where he could not field 10 players.

Game 1 - Stobswell 12-5 Waid FP (Stephen Whyte x 2)
Game 2 - Stobswell 0-24 Blairgowrie
Game 3 - Stobswell 0-40 Cowall
Game 4 - Stobswell 5-29 Panmure (Stephen Whyte)

Despite the results, there were some really positive signs and some impressive displays throughout the day. The victory over Waid was the side's first win at the tournament in a few years and although there were some heavier defeats, the performances were better than the results may suggest.

Injuries did eventually take their toll though. Craig Shearer dislocated his shoulder in the opening fixture, Graeme Craig was treated for a foot injury in the second game and Alastair Barron broke a bone in his hand in the third game. There were various other injuries throughout the day with almost every player requiring attention at some point.

Focus now turns to 15-a-side action. The side are still actively looking for opposition for Saturday 23 August with the side due to travel to Alloa in the 1st round of the RBS Bowl on 30th August before opening their league campaign away to Waid FPs in Anstruther on Saturday 6 September.
