Winning the league is no easy accomplishment; however to be the final league winners of your year group is perhaps the biggest thing you can do in Stockport Schools' Football. Leading on from their Y10 Cup win, the Marple Hall Boys side won the league this season with a 1-0 win over Laurus Cheadle Hulme.
The game was a tight contest, with the deadlock coming about 10 minutes before half time. However the game was not short of entertainment, where both schools' had several chances to either bring an equaliser or extend the lead. The game was a testament to great goalkeeping and defending, showing off the side of the game that usually gets the least attention.
Laurus Cheadle entered the final having never made a Stockport boys final, so making the match in the first place was a historical moment for the school, and will hopefully inspire future students at the school to push on and reach the stage. Marple Hall however had been in two previous Stockport finals with this age group, and were attending their 3rd final in the 2024-25 season as a whole.
Marple now go onto the County Cup final, where they will face a strong Blessed Thomas Holford side- we wish them the best of luck with that match.
