At the start of the season, both teams planned to go strong in the Cheshire competitions, aiming to build upon the Alcock Cup win, and the Senior Trophy Final last season. With the U15s starting well, the competitions looked a certainty from the off, providing they could beat Wirral who looked the strongest Cheshire side that year. For the 14s, they had to retain the trophy won by the 15s the season earlier, but having not won in their opening nine games, the task was a tough one.

The 14s had a tough group stage, beating Knowsley, but losing to both Chester and Wirral. This led them to being seeded last in the group, and facing Wirral in the semi finals. The boys then went onto beat Wirral away from home 2-1, gaining them a place in the final where they would meet Chester.

The 15s won the Alcock Cup the season earlier, and this year looked to be one of only few teams to have their age group engraved on both trophies. To do that they beat Knowsley St Helens 3-2 in an enthralling final during their U14s campaign, and would face a very competitive Wirral side, who this season beat both Manchester and Liverpool.

The 15s were up first, and from the off they looked the much stronger side vs Wirral, taking an early 2-0 lead with goals from both H. Parker and F. Pimlott. Whilst we back how strong our side can be, this came as a shock to us, because of how good Wirral had been all season, but credit to our team for starting the game strong. Likaj got the third goal, before Wirral gained one back to put the game in a balance of who scored the next goal. However, Player of the Year, Likaj, did what he has done best all year and rocketed the ball into the roof of the net to secure our first Senior Trophy since 2019.

The 14s then had to complete the set, which was no easy task against a Chester side we had previously lost 4-3 against, and drew 3-3. The biggest concern was having gained a 2 goal lead in both of those games, and in each conceding the remaining goals with 10 minutes left. In the final, it was Chester who struck first, rebounding an effort from a save. However, M. Ward put in a near man of the match performance to pull two goals back and secure the victory; and the Cheshire Double. Man of the Match went to Berry, who defensively sacrificed himself to man mark Chesters key man, who in previous games scored all the goals against us.

In a historic season from this competition, the 15s now leave us to their final year of school, of which we hope to see many of them in our school finals. The 14s enter their senior year with the Association, and will hope to not only retain the trophy, but build upon their success in other competitions.
