Comfortable in the end..it just took a while though!

Boys deservedly through to the Final!

It was Consolation Cup Semi Final day and we travelled into the big smoke once more to play Torry Youth Select. It was the first time we had played them this season but we felt confident we could do something today and get to the final.
And so it proved! After a scrappy opening we went ahead when ETHAN got on the end of a superb cross ball from Ewan Robertson. We then added a second through ANDREW however we then conceded on the stroke of half time. It was very much mixed emotions during the half time chat. Great that we were leading and we that we created numerous chances. Bit disappointed though that our lead was just a narrow one. In reality we should have 4 or 5 up however we did feel the goals would come in the second half despite the missed chances.
And they did! But at both ends!! Torry equalised early in the second half and we worried a little that the missed chances might catch up on us. We however responded quickly with ANDREW netting goals 3 and 4 and completing his hat trick. Torry then got it back to 4-3and soon after it was 5-4. We then managed to pull away. ANDREW in the end proved far too much of a handful for the home defence netting another two goals. There was also goals for EWAN ROBERTSON and KIERAN. Callum and Cameron McAlpine both hit the woodwork, Callum and Andrew went close again but it ended 8-4 and a deserved win for Stoney! The boys all worked hard and showed great team spirit talking to each other throughout the game.
Johnny was really solid at the back, Ethan and Kieran were excellent in midfield and both Tom and Ewan Robertson both had their best games to date. However our 2 lads up front were the difference. Callum was excellent with his selfless running and passing and was so unlucky not to be on the scoresheet. Andrew despite missing 3 or 4 good chances was excellent and with 5 goals to his name was today's Stonehaven United Man of the match.
The boys were rightly pleased with themselves at the end and can now look forward to a final! MON STONEY
