CLUB STATEMENT:
Alleyne’s Academy in partnership with Stone Old Alleynians Football Club, is proud to announce an exciting redevelopment project that will transform the former swimming pool site and provide a fantastic sports facility for the whole community.

Following the demolition of the swimming pool hall, the changing rooms will be redeveloped as a club house for Stone Old Alleynians. The football club will take full responsibility for funding the clubhouse and ensuring it meets the highest standard for players, supporters and visitors alike. The current astro pitch will be upgraded to a 3G football pitch and facilities developed to meet league requirements to enable the men’s first team to play competitive fixtures at the sports centre.

Stone Old Alleynians FC have a long history being formed in 1962 and after a period away returned to Alleyne’s in 2020. With 69 teams and over 1,200 members the club is the biggest provider of grassroots football in the county. Developing a club house and bringing all teams on site will mean that “football is coming home”.

But the development is not just for football, the tennis courts will be resurfaced and opened for netball, tennis and ‘padel’ tennis.

Lindsay Tibbs, the newly appointed headteacher at Alleyne’s said “We are committed to strengthening our links with the community and this is just one way in which we are working with partners. We hope this will be something the whole town can be proud of’.

Richard Jones, of Stone Old Alleynians FC, said, “It will not only support the growth of football in Stone but also enhance the overall sports offering at Alleyne’s Academy for the students and wider community. We are extremely grateful for the school’s support and cooperation and look forward to finally delivering a facility that the Club and wider football community of Stone have been hoping for, for many years’.

With the Borough Council approving the use of earmarked funding for the project we can now move forward.
