Final score at the Meadows 17-5 to Ellon.
After a massively physical and at times fiery game the Stornoway squad are battered and bruised, but can travel home with their heads held high, as sore as it may be to do so!
After last years hammering away to Ellon, the boys travelled down last night, got to the pitch early and had a good warm up. Unfortunately after some strong initial defence the home team snuck through a gap around the break down and powered over the line from the 22. Ellon converted. This was within the first few minutes of the game but Stornoway came back hard with numbers one to fifteen all getting stuck into the Aberdeenshire boys. The game continued in similar fashion with most of the play in the middle third until Chris Adams crossed over in the corner for teams only points of the game.
Ellon's number nine applied pressure at the back of the scrum and managed to steal the ball running in for Ellon's second.
Ellon's third try came in the second half when after a lot of sustained pressure they shifted the ball wide for their left wing to finish.
As has been the case the heart and grit shown by the team has been inspiring, the score lines in recent times have also started to match this. Bring on Shetland at home next week, it's going to be big
