Stowmarket started the season in style winning comfortably against Epping Upper Clapton. Stowmarket were soon on top dominating the scrum and finding gaps in Epping's mid field defence. Tries were scored by Brad Durrant and Dotun Ogunkeyede. Stowmarket continued to be on top as Epping, promoted last year, struggled with the pace of the new league. Further tries were scored by Joe Lancaster, Brad Durrant and two more from Dotun Ogunkeyede whilst Epping scored their first points with a fine try following good forward work. Four conversions and a penalty from Dan Garrard completed Stowmarket's scoring and Epping will be pleased to have been on top towards the end of the game when they scored a second converted try. Final score 41-12.
Stowmarket's second team, newly promoted, also started the season well against Ipswich 2's in a tense match with the winning score being a long range penalty kick with the final play of the game by Lee Thompson.
