Strathmore U18s played Alloa for the second week in a row at Forfar this time on Saturday in this Midlands League encounter.
The young Strathie squad played their best rugby of the season so far, scoring 8 cracking tries to 2 late Alloa tries. The Strathie pack was in fine form with skipper Ewen Hart, Dan Cashley, Lee Alexander and Fergus Mitchell giving the team real go forward. This allied to quality decision making in passing, breaking and kicking from stand off Struan Robertson, helped the Strathie team to play with real confidence, displaying team commitment and quality with their handling, support play and rucking. The first half saw Struan Robertson sprint through a gap from half way to score the first try. Fergus Mitchell then powered over followed by the excellent Calum Campbell scoring the final try of the half, involving almost the whole team handling the ball for an outstanding finish and quality pass from Alex Milne.
The second half saw Strathie pile on the pressure with the outstanding Mark McQueen scoring two tries, winger Tegan Gibson chased a kick with real determination to score and Struan Robertson cut the midfield defence to score his second try. The final try of the day went to Tegan Gibson for his second try of the match.
Mark McQueen showed real quality with his place kicking, kicking 7 out of 8 kicks.
