Pedlars get caught in the Hawthorns

A convincing mid week win against Wisbech St. Mary in the Thurlow Nunn League Challenge Cup, but unable to repeat the performance on the road to Stanway Rovers. The account opened in the fourteenth minute, Ryan Pearson connecting to a fine delivery from a corner by Nick Castellan into the top right hand corner. The second just four minutes into the second half, Pearson with a great finish with the outside of his right foot, curling neatly to hit home. The game put to bed in the sixty first minute, Matthew Gilchrist heading home at the near post from a corner kick. The icing on the cake, ten minutes from time, Emre Upston proving the assist from the left hand wing, Sary Rahma meeting the ball on the penalty spot and sliding the ball home with precision. The Pedlars face Newmarket Town in the next round, the Jockey,s on the gallop to Shoemakers Lane.
A more subdued encounter at the Hawthorns, home of Stanway Rovers. The Pedlars conceding a strange goal from a corner in the fourth minute and finding difficulty in breaking down the opposition. Ryan Pearson with a couple of headed chances but no real threat to goal. The home side awarded a penalty with ten minutes to go, clinching the victory. A week now to re-group and allow injuries to heal before hosting Whitton United next Saturday.
The Reserves unlucky at home to Holt United, a goal late on clinching the three points for the visitors in the two one result. Luke Askew finding the back of the net for the Pedlars. Next weekend they are on the road to Buxton.
No game last week for the Under 18's, Mulbarton Wanderers calling off for a waterlogged pitch. This Thursday Sheringham come to the Lane for the season's first meeting of the teams.
