Cup fever excites the Pedlars
Swaffham Town now await to find out who will be their opponents in the second round of the Buildbase FA Vase. A great victory away to Haverhill Borough on their 3G artificial pitch. The wind not favouring either side but perhaps making the play on the ground, to feet, which is the Pedlars style. The opener came nine minutes into the game, Nick Castellan with a free kick, met at the back post by the head of Ryan Pearson, the keeper spilling the ball and Luis Duarte on hand to drive home. Borough levelled in the thirty first minute but Swaffham re-took the lead in added time, Joe Jackson's vicious strike saved, but he made sure of the rebound.
The game again levelled five minutes into the second half but only for six minutes as Alex Vincent netted to give the Pedlars the advantage again. Surely all over in the seventy third minute as Joe Jackson smashed home a free kick into the bottom right hand corner of the net, twenty yards out in front of goal, but the home-side awarded a penalty with a minute to go, netting to make it four three Swaffham. The Pedlars defence stood firm and played out the remaining minutes of added time to march into the second round. Back to League action this week, Tuesday away to Norwich CBS and then on the road to Fakenham Town on Saturday.
The Reserves continue their form, a convincing eight nil victory away to Aylsham Reserves pushing them into third place in the Hadley and Ottaway Division Three. Tom Kendrick and Liam Forshaw with a gaol a piece, Connor Germaney with a brace and Korben Willis with an impressive four. Next weekend they are at home to Hempnall.
The Under 18's are still finding their feet in the Thurlow Nunn Youth Division North. A six one defeat to CSF Canaries mid-week Richard Newell getting the consolation goal. Lots of work and lessons to be gained for this squad of young athletes. Thursday they are at home to North Walsham Town.
The Veterans are in action next Sunday when East Harling visit Shoemakers Lane.
