SWANAGE & WAREHAM 22pts COMBE DOWN 24pts

​​Swanage & Wareham welcomed Combe Down to Bestwall last Saturday and after an entertaining game just lost to the visitors in the last few minutes.
​​Swans started on the front foot and from a penalty they put the ball into the Combe Down 5 metres line and from the line out Swans’ wing forward Joe Desmond powered over the try line to score Swans’ first try after 6 minutes.Steve Woolley added the extras(7pts – nil).Play was contested evenly for the next ten minutes but a move by Combe Down set a winger free and he scored a try in the corner after 18 minutes(7pts – 7 pts). Swans started to give away some penalties and after 30 minutes the visitors added one of these(7pts – 10 pts). Five minutes later Combe Down scored another try close to the posts which was converted so the half time score was Swans 7pts Combe Down 17pts.
​​A couple of penalties to Swans led to Steve Woolley put one over to give Swans ten points, and from then on it was all Swans on the attack, and should have scored more points. However from a line out the ball came to Steve Woolley who went over the try line in the corner after 62 minutes.(15pts – 17pts). Swans continued to press and five minutes later once again Joe Desmond was on hand to put Swans in the lead close to the posts. Woolley converted(22pts – 17pts).Combe Down were not finished and with 6 minutes to go the fly half crossed kicked to the right winger who caught the ball and went over for a try half way out. The try was converted (22pts – 24pts). Swans tried to level the scores, but the visitors held on leaving Swans with a losing bonus point.
