​​Swanage & Wareham entertained top of the table Devizes last Saturday, and Swans put in one of their best performances of the season to topple the leaders.
​​Five minutes into the game Swans were awarded a penalty which they put into the visitors five metres line, and from the resulting line out Swans drove over the line with flank forward Will Long claiming the try. Steve Woolley added the extras(7pts – nil). The play was fairly even for the next quarter of an hour, but Swans were controlling the scrums and could have increased their lead. However on the hour mark a run by Swans threequarters had the ball spun out to winger Rory Ferguson who dived over in the corner. Steve Woolley landed the conversion from out wide.(14pts – 0pts).
​​Swans continued to dominate in the second half and Devizes were lucky not to concede further scores. After 62 minutes a grubber kick through the Devizes defence, by Steve Woolley enabled Swans winger Ice Matacagi to outpace the covering defence to score under the posts. Woolley added the conversion (21pts-nil). Devizes came back at Swans and made a series of attacks, but Swans defence held firm and with 6 minutes to go. Swans hit back with a fine individual try by Ice Matacagi who jinked inside the Devizes defence from the ten metres line and cut outside and then back inside to score under the posts. Woolley hooked his conversion wide but that was the end as Swans picked up five league points with a comprehensive victory.
